Raiding FAQ

FAQ:

Q: Where do I find the information on this iRaid thingy I keep hearing about?
A: iRaid stats and operating procedures:
https://sites.google.com/site/iraidalleria/

Q: Where do I find the raid logs?
A: World of Logs:
http://www.worldoflogs.com/guilds/187211/

Q: What are the most important characteristics of our raid groups - what do we look for most?
A: Respectful - Fun - Reliable - Performance - Do what you say you will do - Do it well.

Q: I keep hearing the raid leader talk about 'fancy footwork' - what is that?!
A: That is "doing it well". When he says we need to work on our footwork, he means we stood in the bad, we did not execute the strat, we did not rise to the challenge of the mechanics of the engagement, we may have downed the boss but it wasn't smooth and it looked rough. As on the dance floor as in the raid room, fancy footwork makes it look easy and is very impressive.

Q: When do we raid?
A: Most often, people are available for longer raids on Fri, Sat, and Sun nights - thus we raid the current tier and longer raids those nights, 8:30PM start times. We do however also raid earlier in the week for shorter raids - e.g., BH on Wed as long as our faction has TB.

Q: I don't see the raid events on the calendar - how do I sign up for them?
A: Contact Beartooth (Ironshield/Locksmith) in game. You would be well-advised to review the iRaid website (see above) to be familiar with the general rules of the raid groups beforehand. The raid events are invite-only for the most part.

Q: What if I 'Accept' a raid event invite but am not sure I can make it?
A: Rather than 'Accept' an invite, choose 'Tentative' if you are only tentative about your availability -- common sense and all.

Q: What if something comes up after I have been 'Confirmed' and can no longer make the raid event?
A: First thing to do is contact Beartooth (Locksmith/Ironshield) either "in person" if both of you are online or with an in-game mail and let us know that you cannot make it - preferably as soon as you know that you are either moving to 'Tentative" or are 'Decline'ing or 'Remove'ing the calendar item from your calendar. That way, we as a raid group have an early heads up and can try to backfill your position as quickly as possible and we can adjust your sign up status for you. Real life > game life. We get it. However, you also get that the point of confirming someone is so that others are notified that they are out and you are notified that you are in for that event so that everyone can plan their lives accordingly. If your very important and more important causes (which we agree they are) impair your ability to be reliable in showing up when you say you will be available, obviously we all have to agree that an 'Accept' on your part is not really more than a 'Tentative' and we are likely to slot someone else that has 'Accept'ed and has a track record for showing up more reliably. This is where reliable and performance mesh in how we staff the event roster. It's not punitive, it is about planning solidly so that our raid events are not cancelled due to outages. Keeping in mind that you will be raiding with us for *years*, missing one or two events you are confirmed for will not affect your stats drastically. Missing many events you are confirmed for will reflect - accurately - that you cannot reliably show up for events you signed up for. One is understandable and one is chronic, albeit manageable with our system of staffing.

Q: If I miss too many events as no-shows, can I ever catch up again?
A: Yes! It is in fact easier than you might imagine although it does take time. Sign up as Accept (only when you know you will be available!) and then be online just as you would if you had been confirmed. Remain available to the raid leader as Standby for the entire raid just as if you had been in the raid instance. You get credit for the raid event even if you are on the standby list as long as you were actually there, on standby. The finicky part is that you cannot be saved (obviously) to the raid previously that week so you are going to need to plan to do your raid after our event if you are not hauled in from the standby list (sometimes people have to leave). The *other* reason to keep signing up is because people go on vacation, people stop raiding, slots open up. And of course, if you are not on the list, you would be asked to fill those spots after all the people who did sign up are asked. Bottom line is do not take your raid confirmations lightly. Real world > game life. That's why we respect your need to put something else in front of raiding and that's why we expect you to understand that if you no-show several times, we have to plan to fill your slot with someone that shows up more reliably until you demonstrate you can show up reliably, too.

Q: Loot. How is it distributed?
A: See the iRaid website.
